{"id":5289,"date":"2016-07-12T00:58:00","date_gmt":"2016-07-11T22:58:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.schraegesleben.at\/erfolg\/wima-day-and-night\/"},"modified":"2016-07-12T00:58:00","modified_gmt":"2016-07-11T22:58:00","slug":"wima-day-and-night","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.schraegesleben.at\/en\/success\/wima-day-and-night\/","title":{"rendered":"Wima &#8211; Day and Night"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Esztergom, where the heck is it?<\/p>\n<p>Such, or similar, was my big question, as I heart the first time from the\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wimaworld.com\/wima\/index.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">WIMA <\/a>Rally in one of our winter meetings.<\/p>\n<p>Wima Rally? Yes, once a year all WIMA clubs worldwide, gather together at one location somewhere at this globe and celebrate, talk and ride their (rented) motorbikes.<\/p>\n<p>And, this year our\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/wima-hungary.hu\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">hungarian WIMA<\/a> Collegues\u00a0 honoured us with their invitation to Esztergom for the\u00a0 Rally 2016.<\/p>\n<p>As the distance between Vienna and Esztergom, especially via highway, is only an 2 1\/2 hour drive, something different has to be found.\u00a0 Driving through the hungarian puszta isn&#8217;t chilling, too, so?<\/p>\n<p>Finally the hungarian prime minister helped us with his temporary closure of the border to hungary, thus\u00a0 meaning, that a direct border crossing wasn&#8217;t recommended at all, so we decided to enter Hungary via Slovakia. The &lt;a href=&quot;https:\/\/www.google.com\/intl\/en\/policies\/privacy\/&quot; target=&quot;_blank&quot;&gt;privacy policies of google&lt;\/a&gt; apply.&lt;\/span&gt;&lt;\/div&gt;\">\n<div class=\"video-wrapped-nojs\"><span>Please activate JavaScript to view this video.<br \/>Video-Link: <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/B4xhMimouQE\">https:\/\/youtu.be\/B4xhMimouQE<\/a><\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Then we went up NorthEast to the Slovakian Border at Angern\/March, where we used the ferry to cross the river to Slovakia.<a href=\"https:\/\/www.schraegesleben.at\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/G0050508.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-2097 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/www.schraegesleben.at\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/G0050508-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"DCIM100GOPROG0050508.\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.schraegesleben.at\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/G0040507.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2096 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/www.schraegesleben.at\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/G0040507-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"DCIM100GOPROG0040507.\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>from there we rode to Malacky and further on into the little Charpathian Mountains (Maly Karpaty) &#8211;<\/p>\n<p>quite similar to our <a href=\"https:\/\/image.jimcdn.com\/app\/cms\/image\/transf\/dimension=670x10000:format=jpg\/path\/sd17bd2a1455e7251\/image\/if7ee2f94ba096eca\/version\/1449683132\/image.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Kalte Kuchl<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.schraegesleben.at\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/G0090512.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2101 size-medium alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.schraegesleben.at\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/G0090512-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"DCIM100GOPROG0090512.\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a>&#8211; a famous motorbike meeting and show-off point in Austria.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>from there via Senec to Galanta.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.schraegesleben.at\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/G0100513-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-2109 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/www.schraegesleben.at\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/G0100513-1-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"DCIM100GOPROG0100513.\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a>Unfortunately my\u00a0 Smartphone\u00a0 overheated\u00a0 during the long drive in the hot and sunny weather, so the screen blackened, and the backup map\u00a0 wasn&#8217;t\u00a0 quite clear at one point, so we endend in the middle of nowhere close to the little danube (Maly Dunaj)<\/p>\n<p>A really nice and pleasant place, but unfortunately only with a rowboat the right way. But,\u00a0 with our bikes, we had to head back for a short period and then circle to the right side in direction to Galanta.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>After Galanta we headed south, along the Waag river to Komarno at the Danube. Now we had to decide, which side we would choose for our further approach to Esztergom. Should we stay on the slovakian side and cross the danube at Sturovo? Or should we cross the danube and head to Esztergom along the danube, or over the hills via Tata, Bajna and Tat?<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.schraegesleben.at\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/G0130516.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-2103 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/www.schraegesleben.at\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/G0130516-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"DCIM100GOPROG0130516.\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a>We decided for the hungarian side, and so we crossed the bridge to hungary to Komarom, no border controls, as expected\u00a0 \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n<p>As all of us where more or less dehydrated (despite constant drinking water) we decided for the assumed easier way along the danube.<br \/>\nBut unfortunately, village after village, a lot of sunday tourist car drivers, made the last 35km to Esztergom an unpleasant and boring\u00a0 ride.<\/p>\n<p>Approx.\u00a0 6 hours riding time was calculated, finally\u00a0 -with some interruptions &#8211; 8 hours driving was the result.<\/p>\n<p>My camel back had helped, and so we started to assemble our austrian camp, after the first welcome rounds.<\/p>\n<p>As Lily and Birgit will arrive tomorrow with their transporter van and the big tipi , we decided to make kind of a circle with our tents, below some shady trees.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.schraegesleben.at\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/IMG_20160710_200858914_HDR.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-2105 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.schraegesleben.at\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/IMG_20160710_200858914_HDR-300x169.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_20160710_200858914_HDR\" width=\"300\" height=\"169\" \/><\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.schraegesleben.at\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/IMG_20160710_200854257.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-2104 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.schraegesleben.at\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/IMG_20160710_200854257-300x169.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_20160710_200854257\" width=\"300\" height=\"169\" \/><\/a>I did errect my\u00a0 tent too, despite the fact that I\u00a0 will have to drive back in an hour, or so, to vienna, as I\u00a0 had changed my job only a week ago and therfore lost all my\u00a0 vacation\u00a0 for the time beeing .\u00a0 :-\/<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">But I&#8217;ll be back &#8211; on friday afternoon &#8211; for sure.<\/p>\n<p>At 8:30 pm I started the engine again, and headed to Tatabanya, the closest highway driveway, I found a pleasant, challenging road with no traffic, so I arrived at the highway only half an our later, and from there headed back to vienna into the black night.<\/p>\n<p>unsurprisingly, there was a queue at the border of 2,5km, but, as I had left my paniers at the tent, it was easy to sneak frough the cloumns and cross the border without to much time lost.<a href=\"https:\/\/www.schraegesleben.at\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/IMG_20160710_224431823.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-2107 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.schraegesleben.at\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/IMG_20160710_224431823-169x300.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_20160710_224431823\" width=\"169\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.schraegesleben.at\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/IMG_20160710_224409730.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-2106 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/www.schraegesleben.at\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/IMG_20160710_224409730-300x169.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_20160710_224409730\" width=\"300\" height=\"169\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Finally, at 10:45pm I arrived at Vienna.
